How we Got here
Founded in the late 1940s by Elliott Farmer Sr., our journey began with a clear vision for the Ready Mix and Asphalt business through Farmer's Concrete, Cole County Industries, and Jefferson Asphalt. This vision laid the foundation for what would become a multi-generational commitment to quality and innovation in the construction industry.
In the early 1970s, Elliott's sons, Bud and Mike Farmer, joined the family business, bringing with them a renewed focus on family values and strategic growth. Their forward-thinking approach led to vertical integration and expansion into complementary industries, transforming into a diverse portfolio.
Today, under third-generation leadership, Farmer Companies employs over 2,000 people across the Midwest and beyond. The company continues to grow in construction, logistics, and real estate while remaining steadfast in its commitment to core values and improving national infrastructure.
