Capital undertook a significant improvement project on U.S. Route 63 in 2022 to enhance road safety and driving conditions for over 30,000 daily travelers. The $15.35 million project encompassed a comprehensive scope of work, including pavement repair, resurfacing, and cold-milling on the main highway from Route B in Boone County to U.S. Route 54 in Callaway County. Additionally, the project involved bridge deck repairs, application of high-friction surface treatments on curves, and resurfacing of entrance and exit ramps. Specific enhancements included a 500-foot full-depth pavement replacement in the southbound lanes, extension of acceleration and deceleration lanes at key intersections, and improvements to guardrails and guard cables. The project also extended to Ponderosa Street in Columbia, demonstrating our commitment to improving both major highways and connecting roads to provide a smoother, safer driving experience for Missouri motorists.
