Admission Requirements

  • Must be 18 years old
  • Have fundamental skills to read, write and speak English, as per Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
  • Must be able to understand highway traffic signs and signals.
  • Be a lawful, permanent resident of the United States or have a current valid VISA or work permit to work in the United States.
  • Complete an enrollment agreement

  • Valid driver's license
  • No DUI's in the past five years or multiple alcohol driving offenses
  • No criminal convictions in the past three years
  • No more than 1 moving violation within the past 12 months
  • No more than 3 moving violations within the past 36 months
  • Must pass a DOT physical
  • Must pass a pre-employment 10 panel with oxy drug screen and alcohol screening
    o DOT Medical Examiner Ticket, Drug & Alcohol Test, and MVR must all be completed by applicant within 30 days of the program start date
  • Must adhere to FMCSA regulations

Enrollment Costs:
• Tuition: $5,400.00 per course
• Fees: Registration Fee of $100 [non-refundable after 3 days of enrollment]

Conditions of Payment:
• Payment Methods Accepted
o Acceptable methods of payment are credit card and check (to be made payable to Capital CDL Academy)
• Payments Required
o Payment is required in full prior to the first day of the course without exception
• Failure to Pay
o Payment is due before prior to the first day of the course. Failure to pay will result in denial into the course

Financing & Assistance:
• Due to the short nature of the course, incoming students do not qualify for Federal Financial Aid programs
• Payment plans/financing are currently not offered for the course

Leave of Absence

Leave of Absence

  • If a case where a student would not be able to attend, he or she shall contact a academy representative and a leave of absence may be granted.
  • Any student having 3 or more days of unexcused absences will be dismissed from class with no refund.
  • All students are expected to complete the required training program with the same time period as all other students that start on the same date.
  • Students are expected to attend 100% of classes.

Excused Absences:

  • Death in the immediate family
  • Sickness that would disrupt or spread to the rest of class - a doctors note must be submitted.
  • Accident/Injury
Behavior/Conduct

Behavior/Conduct

Use of any illegal drug or controlled substance will not be tolerated.

If a student is found/believed to be doing any illegal or controlled substance you will be required to a mandatory drug and alcohol test. A positive result will receive immediate dismissal with no refund.

Disruptive Behavior won't be tolerated, this includes:

  • No cell phone use during class
  • Tardiness/Absences without contacting a school representative.
  • Sleeping in Class
  • Bullying/Violent behavior
  • Negative Attitudes

Possession of firearms are strictly prohibited.

Student Conduct

Students will be reprimanded or possibly dismissed with no refund for the following:

  • Being under the influence or in the possession of alcoholic
    beverages or drugs
  • Insubordination or unruly conduct
  • Intentional abuse of equipment
  • Repeated absenteeism
  • Poor progress due to students failure to learn (making no
    attempt or having a "don't care" attitude.)
  • In the event any student receives an alcoholic citation or test positive on a drug screen before or during class, student will be automatically terminated.

Dress Code

  • Dress appropriately for weather conditions
  • Closed toed shoes must be worn at all times
  • No offensive clothing with derogatory images or words may be worn

What do I need before I can come to the Academy?

  • Valid driver’s license with no outstanding tickets or warrants, DOT physical and Drug/Alcohol Screening.

What if I’ve driven before and feel as if I wouldn’t need the 4 full weeks?

  • Everyone that does not possess a Current CDL license MUST attend an Entry Level Driver Training Program. No one is grandfathered in no matter the circumstances.

What is ELDT (Entry Level Driving Training)?

  • Entry Level Driving Training (ELDT) is a program that is designed to provide new commercial drivers with the skills and knowledge they need to operate a commercial vehicle safely and efficiently. The goal of the ELDT is to provide new drivers with the knowledge and skills they need to pass the required tests and obtain a commercial drivers license (CDL). Upon completion of an ELDT program, drivers should have the knowledge and skills they need to begin their career as a commercial driver.

What age do I need to be to obtain a CDL?

  • At least 18 years old to obtain a CDL for in-state driving only. 21 years of age to cross state lines or haul HAZ-MAT.

With 27 years in the industry, Michael brings a wealth of knowledge as the CDL Academy Instructor! His diverse experience as a driver in the industry ranges from Mixer Driver, End-Dump Transportation, Dump Truck Operator, and Heavy Haul/Equipment Operator.

Michael has won a National Ready Mix Concrete Association (NRMCA) Championship, Numerous Farmer Companies Rodeo Championships, and is a holder of the NRMCA Concrete Delivery Professional Certification.

Michael is a passionate and well-rounded educator with a deep-rooted connection to the trucking industry. With a mission to inspire safe driving practices and instill a passion for excellence in all students, he is dedicated to shaping the next generation of professional drivers.
