Capital began construction on the Roy Blunt Reservoir Transporation Improvement Project in September of 2023. The purpose of this project is to provide a reservoir capable of producing seven million gallons of raw water per day for the residents and communities of north central Missouri. Additional benefits include provisions for: water-based recreational opportunities, sediment storage, and to reduce flood damages on the floodplains of East Locust Creek and the common floodplain area of Locust Creek.
Scope
Capital is responsible for building and/or improving four intersections including adding a northbound right-turn lane onto Missouri Route 5 and join Missouri Route 5 to a new road, Mid-Lake Road, intersection improvements along Missouri Route 5 at Route N, intersection improvements along State Highway 5 at Mayapple Road to reconfigure driveways and add a northbound right-turn lane and southbound left-turn lane, and reconfiguring the intersection of Route Y and Route N and connect to Mayapple Road. Additionally, the construction the four new bridges is necessary. This consists of three bridge structures on the alignment of what will be the new Mid-Lake Road and one bridge on the alignment of what will be the new Mayapple Road.
Anticipated Results
This 2,352-acre water supply reservoir will provide the following for the communities in north central Missouri - 1,900 acres of vegetated buffer and public use area, 54,000-acre feet of water at normal pool, capacity to provide 7 million gallons a day of raw water for human use, and 82 miles of shoreline.
