The University of Missouri Parking Lot Rehabilitation Project addressed critical infrastructure needs for two large parking areas near Memorial Stadium and the Mizzou Softball Complex (Lots SG7/A & SG4/M). This comprehensive project involved transition milling and a 2" asphalt overlay, utilizing 4,040 tons of hot mix asphalt to improve functionality and aesthetics in a highly visible section of the campus.

The project's primary objectives were to eliminate persistent drainage issues and mitigate trip hazards throughout the parking areas. Given the minimal existing slope in large sections, the team implemented strategic grade adjustments to ensure optimal drainage. This attention to detail was crucial in addressing long-standing water management concerns.

Challenges

Execution of the project required navigating several scheduling challenges related to campus events. The team developed a flexible work plan to accommodate these restrictions while maintaining project efficiency.

Results

By addressing drainage problems, enhancing safety, and improving the overall appearance of these high-traffic areas, the project significantly upgraded the parking infrastructure. The result is a more functional, safer, and visually appealing parking environment that better serves the university community and visitors.
