As National Construction Safety Week continues, it’s a great reminder to keep safety at the forefront of everything we do. It is no secret that our industry is inherently dangerous and full of high-risk situations, which is why staying alert, applying what we’ve learned, and looking out for one another is critical. Safety isn’t just a checklist - it’s a shared responsibility. 🦺

Brittany Morehead, Safety Manager for Capital Aggregates, shares her perspective:
“As we approach the busy season it’s important to remember that safety is a choice that you make. You choose to put on your hard hat, wear your safety glasses, perform lockout tagout, complete your workplace examination, etc. Incidents are the result of the choices you ignore. Remember to focus on the basics, think about your why, and if you see something, have the courage to speak up and say something.”

Checking back in from Van Buren County, AR! 📍

Our crews recently completed a 200+ CY deck pour as part of the bridge replacement project on Hwy. 9 over Pee Dee Creek in Clinton, AR! In collaboration with the Arkansas Department of Transportation, this project will replace the existing weight-restricted 160’ x 25’ bridge with a safer, modern structure. The project spans less than one mile and includes roadway improvements with new 11’ travel lanes and 6’ shoulders. Project completion is slated for August. 🚧

A big shoutout to our hardworking crews for their efforts on this project - from setup to execution, their commitment and skill have been key to delivering high-quality results!

No matter your role, we all have a part to play in creating a culture where every team member feels seen, heard, and supported. It’s about more than policies - it’s about making sure everyone gets home safe to their loved ones at the end of each day.

Hear from Safety Coordinator, Seth Criswell, on a simple but powerful safety tip:
“I believe it’s important to always have a safety plan in place. A 10-minute team huddle to discuss our tasks for the day not only establishes a clear line of communication, but also gives us the opportunity to voice safety concerns and identify any additional measures that need to be taken. These discussions help reduce workplace injuries, enhance productivity by preventing accidents, and demonstrate our ongoing commitment to a safe work environment. Several tools can be used to help identify hazards, determine the need for additional PPE or special equipment, and address requirements such as confined space permits.”

Last week, we proudly celebrated the opening of our new Asphalt Plant in Ozark, MO with a Ribbon Cutting ceremony! 👏

We were honored to be joined by Governor Mike Kehoe, Michelle Hataway, Director of the Missouri Department of Economic Development, and Kristen Haseltine, President & CEO of Show Me Christian County. This investment represents a significant step forward in expanding our capabilities to better serve our partners and customers across southwest Missouri.

Thank you to Astec Industries, Inc., Lumix Electrical Inc/Lumix System Integrators, and CMC Automation for their expertise, support, and collaboration in bringing this project to life.

Most importantly, we are incredibly grateful to our dedicated teams across all divisions. Their hard work, perseverance, and commitment were essential to the success of this project - we couldn’t have done it without them.

This milestone marks more than just the opening of a new facility - it reflects our continued growth and long-term commitment to southwest Missouri. As we expand our footprint in the region, we’re excited to deepen our partnerships, create new opportunities, and continue delivering the high-quality service our customers count on.
